  • On my desk
I’m currently working on a couching sampler for my blog. Can you name any of these couching stitches?

Want to try them? This post will be a stitch tutorial once it’s finished.

I had fun with the thread colors and trying some new-to-me couching stitches too.

  • March FlossTube
It’s been a little while since I filmed a FlossTube- sorry about that. My goal this year was to film a monthly FlossTube, well it’s now March and this is my first, maybe second FlossTube video, of the year. So not off to a great start. But I filmed a new video and I’m excited to share it with you!

This month I’m sharing some behind the scenes on big and small projects I’ve been working on. You’ll get a first look at the advanced kit ideas I’m playing around with, the newest stick and stitch pattern pack I designed, a kit collaboration in the works, and the cover of my third book, 3D Botanical Embroidery and Stumpwork. I know, it’s a lot packed into one video.

This is just a snippet of the full video on my YouTube channel. If you want to watch the whole thing, be sure to pop over there and subscribe.

  • Book Cover Reveal!
My third book, 3D Botanical Embroidery & Stumpwork, finally has a cover and is available for pre-order!

After 4 months (last year) of work that felt like a fever dream, I hit the send button on all the content. It was a thrilling and relieving experience all at the same time.

After stitching landscapes and shoes in my first two embroidery books, I thought long and hard about what I wanted to write about, if I was going to write a third book. The inspiration for this book came from a very unlikely place, but if you know me, it’ll totally make sense as well.

As I was reading (well listening to) a plethora of murder mystery audiobooks last summer, I started thinking about how many golden age murder mysteries used some kind of poison or plant to kill their victims. While I’d heard the poisons referenced many times and even could pin-point their symptoms before the detective stated the poison at times, I didn’t know much about the plants that created these poisons. This had me doing a deep dive into poisonous plants.

What do you think? Are you excited to stitch these beautiful yet deadly 3D plants?

  • Hi there! Just popping in to share a bit more about my second, hand embroidery book; DIY Embroidered Shoes. Like my first book, this one is packed with helpful information so you can learn how to prep your shoes for stitching and tools you’ll find helpful. Along with the 15 patterns included in the book, there’s 50 mix and match patterns in the back and you can learn how to make your own espadrilles!

Here’s a few of my favorite projects from the book.

  • My favorite thing ever is to see workshop students show off their finished embroideries from class!

How beautiful is this embroidered denim jacket?!

In class we often get started with projects and I help everyone get a feel for trying new stitches and techniques, but we don’t finish the project in class. Embroidery is a very slow craft after all. So getting to see students finished embroideries always makes my day!

  • Under the Sea
I’m working on a new design for an advanced embroidery kit. This one uses a bunch of raised stitch techniques that create cool shapes, depth, and dimension.

My goal this year is to design and release a few more advanced embroidery kits. Are there any stitches or designs you’d like to see?
