Want to create textural embroidery that pops off the fabric? Join fiber artist and author Melissa Galbraith of MCreativeJ to learn stumpwork. Stumpwork is a type of textural embroidery that uses padding and wire to create sculptural elements that stand out from the fabric creating 3D elements.
In this 4 hour class you’ll learn how to make wire slip butterfly wings. These wings will be moveable and flutter away from the fabric. After stitching the wings, you’ll be able to finish your embroidery in a pin setting to wear. All materials are included.
This class is best suited for makers that have stitched before, however all are welcome.
Kit Fee - $30
Kit Includes - tulle and blue cotton fabric, full skeins of DMC embroidery thread, 4-inch beechwood embroidery hoop, embroidery needle, wire, transfer pattern, pin setting, and printed instructions.
Student Provides - Basic sewing supplies - usually scissors (fabric & paper), pins, seam ripper, chalk, seam gauge, ruler, measuring tape, sewing needles, etc.
Admittance ticket to the Sewing & Stitchery Expo is NOT required to attend this class.
